The 2023 North Pacific Regional Championships (NPRC), a junior tennis tournament was held at the Guam National Tennis Center in Dededo, Guam, from April 24-29, 2023. The tennis center in Dededo, Guam has 11 professional grade tennis courts.
Sixty-five junior tennis players from Palau, Guam, CNMI, FSM and Nauru competed in the 2023 NPRC in singles and doubles events in the 16 and under boys and girls, 14 and under boys and girls and 12 and under boys and girls.
Palau participated in the 14 and under and 12 and under girls events. Clara Ueki, Leleana Isaac and Sorai Nakamura competed in the singles event in the 14 and under girls and placed 6th, 7th and 8th respectively. Abigail Nakamura, Jhohanna Malsol and Kiara Tellei competed in the singles and doubles team event for 12 and under girls and placed 4th.
The International Tennis Federation’s (ITF) representative, Martin Setiawan from Indonesia, conducted a 2.5 days tennis camp for the 12 and under boys and girls after they finished their competitions. ITF plans to send its representative to Palau sometime this year to conduct a one week tennis camp for Palau’s junior tennis players.
Palau Tennis Federation wishes to thank the Oceania Tennis Federation, Palau National Olympic Committee, Mr. Ha, and the junior tennis players’ parents, families and friends for their generous donations, which made it possible for them to travel to this junior tennis tournament in Guam.
