Here’s When and How to Claim Yours!

KOROR, Palau – The Bureau of Revenue & Taxation (BRT) has released the schedule for the distribution of Wage and Salary Tax (WST) refunds for eligible Palauan citizen employees. The refunds will be available at the One Stop Shop Building near the Police Station in Koror from February 25 to 28, 2025.

According to the announcement, employees who earned $15,000 or less in wages and salary for 2024 will be able to collect their refunds on February 25 and 26, while those earning between $15,000 and $30,000 can collect their refunds on February 27 and 28. Disbursements will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the designated dates.

BRT emphasized that refunds apply only to taxes withheld from the first $8,000 of wages and salary. Additionally, refunds for contributions to non-profit organizations and tuition payments will be issued at the same time.

Requirements for Claiming Refunds

To collect their refunds, eligible employees must present a valid government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license or passport). If someone else is picking up the refund on behalf of an employee, they must provide:

  • A signed authorization letter from the recipient,
  • A copy of the recipient’s government-issued ID, and
  • A copy of the authorized person’s ID.

Unclaimed Refunds

BRT stated that unclaimed refunds will be available for pickup at the One Stop Shop Building starting March 3, 2025, during regular business hours.
