While International tourism continues to rebound, Palau’s tourism arrivals continue a positive trend.
According to the latest Palau Visitor’s Arrival statistics, tourism numbers from January to September increased by 23 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
Palau has received over 7,000 tourists since the beginning of this year.
The statistic however showed that in the months of August and September, arrivals went down compared to the same months in 2021.
The report added that For the month of September 2022, visitor arrivals to Palau dropped by 28% compared to September 2021 with 1,289 arrivals and an increase o of 11% compared to last month (Aug. 2022).
The statistics further added that tourists from USA and Canada “remain as the leading market representing 58% of arrivals, followed by Others with 16%, then Japan representing 15% of arrivals.”
Helping in the increase in tourism is United Airlines: servicing Palau routes increased have increased to six times a week. Five UA flights arriving from Guam and one UA flight coming from the Philippines.
Chin Airlines is also expected to service the route to Palau in a more regular schedule by November as Taiwan welcomes visitors back starting this month, after easing its COVID-19 quarantine rules.
Expected to service the route of Palau again are flights from Korea.
Traditionally the key market of Palau is tourists from Japan, Taiwan , China, and Korea.
