KOROR, Palau — As the Republic of Palau prepares to celebrate its 31st Independence Day, President Surangel S. Whipps Jr. formally received and accepted the credentials of three new ambassadors, marking renewed diplomatic ties with Pakistan, Ireland, and Bangladesh.
In separate ceremonies held on September 30, 2025, at the President’s Office in the One Stop Shop (OSS) building in Koror, President Whipps welcomed Her Excellency Dr. Asima Rabbani of Pakistan, Her Excellency Emma Hickey of the Republic of Ireland, and His Excellency Mohammad Sarwar Mahmood of Bangladesh.

President Whipps expressed Palau’s appreciation for each nation’s engagement and conveyed optimism about expanding cooperation in tourism, trade, and economic development.
In welcoming Dr. Rabbani, the new Pakistani Ambassador to Palau, President Whipps said he looked forward to strengthening economic and tourism opportunities between both nations.
Receiving Ambassador Hickey of Ireland, President Whipps extended his best wishes for a productive tenure and highlighted Palau’s interest in building closer bilateral and economic relations with Ireland.
