Palau showcased its tax reform progress at the 22nd Pacific Islands Tax Administrators Association (PITAA) Conference in Tonga, where Acting Director Turang Rengiil and Senior Auditor Janyssa Ford represented the nation. Rengiil highlighted efforts to strengthen domestic revenue systems and regional cooperation. Palau was also chosen to host the 23rd PITAA Conference in 2026.

KOROR, Palau — Palau highlighted its ongoing tax reform efforts at the 22nd Annual Pacific Islands Tax Administrators Association (PITAA) Conference held Sept. 22–26 in Tonga.

Acting Director of the Bureau of Revenue and Taxation Turang Rengiil and Senior Auditor Janyssa Ford represented Palau at the regional meeting, which brought together delegates from 16 Pacific island countries. Observers from international organizations, including the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Asian Development Bank, and Pacific Financial Technical Assistance Centre, also attended.

Rengiil presented an update on Palau’s tax reform initiatives and participated in a panel discussion on the challenges and opportunities facing Pacific island tax administrations. She emphasized the importance of strengthening domestic revenue systems and enhancing regional collaboration.

During the conference, Palau accepted the role of host for the 23rd PITAA Annual Conference, which will take place in Koror in 2026.

Rengiil’s participation was supported by the Australian government and the Australian Taxation Office under the Palau Tax Partnership Program, which aims to strengthen tax administration and capacity building across the Pacific region.
