Public Safety Director Aloysius Alonz said that parents of minors who will be caught roaming the streets beyond the 9 p.m. curfew without being escorted by a guardian could be issued a citation.
In an interview with Island Times last week, Alonz said that children under the age of 18 who will be seen roaming the streets beyond the curfew hour and without being accompanied by a guardian will be brought to the police station.
“Minors can’t go around beyond curfew unescorted. They should have a good reason for doing so but if not, they will be brought to the station,” Alonz said, explaining further that their parents will immediately be informed and will be asked to pick up the minors as they could not just simply release them for safety purposes.
“Their parents need to be informed and the parents can get citation for that,” Alonz said, saying further that they already encountered cases like this. Statistics on this case, however, is yet to be furnished by the Bureau of Public Safety (BPS) to Island Times. (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
