KOROR, Palau (August 4, 2026) – The PCC-CRE hatchery has successfully established rabbitfish brood-stock management through continued technical support and technology transfer from the Taiwan Technical Mission, according to information provided by the program.
This year, brood-stock raised at the hatchery spawned naturally, producing healthy larvae and marking what officials described as a successful transfer of aquaculture technology. The development represents an important step for Palau’s aquaculture sector, showing that the hatchery is able to manage brood-stock and support breeding operations locally.
In addition to the spawning success, fish fry produced at the PCC-CRE hatchery have been distributed to rabbitfish farmers for grow-out culture. That effort allows the hatchery to directly support local aquaculture production while helping strengthen the supply of quality fingerlings for farmers.
The Taiwan Technical Mission said it will continue to provide technical support and share aquaculture expertise with the PCC-CRE hatchery and local farmers. The ongoing cooperation is aimed at improving breeding and hatchery techniques, strengthening local production capacity and promoting the sustainable development of Palau’s aquaculture industry.
