Koror, Palau – The Palau Conservation Society (PCS) marked a major milestone on Thursday, June 12, 2025, as it hosted its 31st Annual General Membership Meeting (AGM) at the Bai ra Maiberel, celebrating thirty-one years of its commitment to environment conservation and community engagement. The annual event serves as a platform to renew and expand membership, elect new leadership to guide the organization forward and to showcase progress of on-the-ground projects, capacity building efforts, outreach and development as well as the financial overview of the past year. The AGM reinforces PCS’s dedication to the Palau community and continuous strive for improvement.

While the PCS staff presented the highlights, election of the new board members took place. A total of 36 active members participated in the voting process, resulting in the election of the following individuals to serve three-year terms on the PCS Board of Directors:

  • Senator TJ Imrur Remengesau
  • Minister of Justice Jennifer S. Olegeriil
  • Dr. Sinton Soalablai
  • PCS Founder Madam Sandra S. Pierantozzi
  • Dr. Yimnang Golbuu
  • PCS Founder Faustina K. Rehuher-Marugg

Each of these elected Board members brings extensive expertise in various fields including conservation, culture, business, science and education. United by a share commitment to preserving Palau’s unique natural resources, they are dedicated to advancing the mission and vision of PCS.

The event brought together over 40 participants including youth representatives from the State Governments of Aimeliik, Airai, and Sonsorol, as well as individual members from organizations such as PALARIS, Melekeok Conservation Network, Ministry of Justice, Koror State Government and Palau Pacific Resort. Among the attendees, 15 individuals became new members while 3 renewed their annual membership, representing both the private and public sectors including OneReef Micronesia, Friends of the PNMS, Bureau of Agriculture, Bureau of Environment, Aimeliik State Government, FAO Palau, the Minister of Justice, and Vice President Raynold B. Oilouch.

Throughout the afternoon, participants engaged in meaningful conversations while enjoying light refreshments and raffle prize giveaways, creating a warm and festive atmosphere that reflects the spirit of PCS which is deeply rooted in community collaboration and engagement.

As PCS embarks on another year of conservation leadership, the organization remains focused on fostering partnerships, inspiring collective action, and ensuring a resilient and sustainable future for Palau. PCS extends its heartfelt gratitude to all its members, partners, and friends from individuals and families to institutions and businesses whose unwavering commitment propels our mission of protecting Palau’s unique natural resources for future generations to come.
