Palau Conservation Society (PCS) had a lot to celebrate at their 25th Anniversary Gala and Live Auction last Thursday.
With the backdrop of the beautiful rock islands, attendees ate great food and danced the evening away to the sounds of the Love Band. Highlights of the evening included a keynote speech by First Lady Debbie Remengesau where she spoke about the importance of preserving culture and the environment. The Love Band also did a throwback to PCS’ Biib song that was popular many years ago.
At the height of the event, one of the five items available at the auction went for a record breaking $5,000 to Mr. Eric Whipps. The coveted item, donated by Koror State, is an opportunity to visit and swim at the Ngerukeuid Islands Wildlife Preserve, a Rock Island Southern Lagoon protected area that is off limits to the public.
Because of the success of the Gala, PCS was able to reach and exceed its goal of raising $125,000 for its 25th Anniversary. “All funds will go to supporting conservation efforts throughout Palau for the upcoming year and beyond,” said PCS Executive Director Bola Majekobaje. PCS would like to thank all the individuals, businesses, and partners who made the success of the Gala possible. (PR)
