Join the Movement to Safeguard Our Islands’ Future

Koror, Palau – May 1, 2025 – The Palau Conservation Society (PCS), a nonprofit dedicated to protecting Palau’s environment, is inviting all residents to join its ambitious 2025 mission to preserve the islands’ natural wonders. At a pivotal meeting led by Board Chairman T.J. Imrur Remengesau, the organization announced two cornerstone events designed to unite the community: the 2025 PCS Gala, a celebration of conservation, and the Annual General Membership Meeting, an open forum for public input.

The 2025 PCS Gala, co-hosted with the House of Delegates and the Governors’ Association, will take place on October 23 at the Palau Royal Resort. Join us for an unforgettable evening filled with the vibrant rhythms of local music, delicious cuisine, fun, and exciting prizes—all while celebrating the inspiring successes of conservation in our islands. Get ready—tickets will be available soon for a night you won’t want to miss!

“Our islands’ beauty is a gift—and is our responsibility to safeguard if for future generation,” said PCS Executive Director Elbuchel Sadang. “Whether you’re attending the gala or sharing ideas at our Annual Meeting, every action counts.”

Ahead of the gala, PCS will launch a membership drive to expand its network of supporters. New members will help support conservation projects while honoring community contributions, while gaining voting rights to shape the organization’s priorities.

The public is also encouraged to attend the Annual General Membership Meeting on June 12, 2025, at Bai ra Maiberel in Koror (11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.). The free event welcomes all residents—members or not—to learn about who we are, what we do, and explore ways to get involved. Six seats on the PCS Board of Directors will be decided by member vote, offering a direct chance to guide conservation efforts.

“You don’t need expertise to make a difference—just passion for Palau,” Sadang added. “From fishers to teachers, we all have a role in this story.”

With Palau’s ecosystems facing climate threats and development pressures, PCS emphasizes that community action is more critical than ever. Founded in 1994, the organization has championed grassroots projects like marine sanctuaries and youth education programs such as “A Uel a Sechelid”. This year’s initiatives aim to deepen public engagement while honoring traditional stewardship practices.

Whether you’re a long-time supporter or just getting to know PCS, we invite you to join us and be part of the mission to protect our one and only natural heritage.
