Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) Accounting Officer has been accepted into a Master’s in Business program at Rikkyo University, in Tokyo, Japan.

Keefe Techitong will be attending this program for the next two years and will focus on Finance – specifically investment and investment management.

The scholarship is offered under JICA as part of the United Sustainable Development Goal’s Global Leadership Program. The purpose of the scholarship program is to strengthen networks between recipient countries and to build the capacity of future policy makers/influencers.

Techitong graduated from the University of Hawaii at Hilo in Business Administration and Accounting. After graduating, he worked for the Protected Areas Network Office (PANO) as a Financial Officer.

In the past two years, Techitong has contributed a lot to PICRC and the Administration Department.  He has been responsible for all accounting functions of the Center. Additionally, Techitong maintained financial records, assisted in the development and enforcement of appropriate finance policies and procedures, conducted budget analyses and prepared and submitted accurate and complete finance reports.

Through his experience at PICRC, Techitong was able to continue to expand his knowledge of accounting but he wanted to eventually return to school to pursue a Master’s degree in Business.

PICRC is very proud of the work that Techitong has done and of his accomplishments of getting into this program. PICRC wishes to acknowledge and thank the government of Japan and JICA for offering this opportunity to raise the capacity of their staff. (PR)
