KOROR, Palau – The Palau Livestock Association (PLA) held its forum June 30 at Ngetmeduch Park in Koror, bringing together government officials, livestock producers and community members for a day of policy discussion, project updates and a tasting of Palauan-style pork and chicken dishes.
Delegate Soalablai and Sen. Tellames attended the event, along with the director of the Bureau of Agriculture and Chief Koran. The Koror State Government, under Gov. Rudimch, provided the park venue free of charge.
The forum opened with breakfast and registration, followed by opening prayers, welcoming remarks and recognition of special guests, PLA officers and PLA board members. Plenary sessions covered the association’s strategic plan, ongoing project updates and its agritourism plan, followed by a general question-and-answer period.
A second round of plenary sessions addressed PLA’s PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) policies and outreach and advocacy efforts. The afternoon featured breakout sessions focused on piggery and poultry production before the forum closed in the early afternoon.
Organizers said PLA is working with the Civic Action Team on food security initiatives, a partnership reflected in the group photo taken during the event.
The forum’s tasting menu highlighted Palauan cuisine, including klengoes belau babii, sabau babii, cheluomel malk, and beldakl malk wrapped in titiml leaf. Also served were fried tapioca, kukau, prak and billum, demok soup, delul diokang and pumpkin roll, with lemon-kingkang offered as a drink.
