The 20th annual Palau Pacific Resort Open Water Swim Championship, organized by the Palau Aquatics Federation (PAF), was held on May 3 with 42 swimmers who demonstrated great skill and determination. Excellent weather conditions contributed to the success of the event.
First place winners in each event were Kazuumi Nestor 5K-Male, Charlie Gibbons 3K-Male, YeonSoo Choi 3K-Female, Morgan Moreston 1.5k-Male, Mizuki Sadamori 1.5K-Female Tori Oya 500m-Male, Naomi Osawa 500m-Female, Otto Jorand 250m-Male, Shoko Akashi 250m-Female and Team Mahi – 250m Relay event.
PAF also welcomed Tokyo Uminchu Club from Japan, led by the first Japanese athlete to swim solo across the Strait of Dover. One of the club members at age 64 years was an inspiration with the completion of the 5K event.
A big thank you to all the volunteers and Technical Officials for their hard work. Safety was PAF’s top priority, and thanks to Palau’s best safety kayak team and CAT Team’s medical support, everything went smoothly. PAF is also grateful to PPR for hosting the event on their beautiful beach and donating raffle gifts. Two birthdays were observed, adding extra joy to the event. PAF looks forward to seeing everyone again at the 2026 PPR Open Water Swim.
