The 3rd Regional Training for the Introduction of Hybrid Power Generation System (HPGS) in Fiji is a component of the JICA Technical Cooperation Project for Introduction of Hybrid Power Generation System in Pacific Island Countries.  The project objective is to promote HPGS aiming to achieve proper operation and maintenance of Diesel Generators and Renewable Energy power generation systems through capacity development.

The object of this training is to provide learning opportunities to improve the technical knowledge and skills of the participants to disseminate HPGS in their countries.  The participants gained the opportunity to strengthen the knowledge acquired and exchange their views and opinions with other participants.  Participating countries included Cook Islands, Nauru, Palau, PNG, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Tonga.

The training was held over two weeks; the first week for Diesel Generators and the second week for Renewable Energy. In total, 7 staff of Palau Public Utilities Corporation (PPUC) participated. Participating in the Diesel Generators training were Sione Isechal and Spencer Remoket, both Power Plant Mechanics, Ian Iyechad, Assistant Mechanic Supervisor, and Ramon Adelbai, Power Generation Manager.  Renewable Energy course were Diego T. Polycarp, Renewable Energy Specialist, Princeton Richard, Kayangel Power System Operator, and Nadja T. Benhart, PPUC Board Secretary.
