The PPUC team comprised of CEO Frank Kyota and key management and staff conducted a townhall meeting for Ngerikiil residents on Tuesday evening 29th March 2022. Main discussion points included the improvement of water quality after successful installation of a booster pump as well as new rates to be implemented.
This particular area in Ngerikiil starting from Ngirachitei Dr. Yano’s residence and onwards has not been receiving water quality they deserve due to limitations of the water infrastructure and insufficient funding to support improvements. Through partnership between PPUC, Airai State Government and National Government, funds were made available to procure and install three 25 hP booster pumps to pump clean, filtered water from the Oberaod storage tank by PNCC Airai Office to Ngerikiil.
Community members in attendance were pleased and grateful to hear about the completion of this much needed improvement project. Now that service has improved to meet ROP safe water drinking quality standards and confirmed by the Environmental Quality Protection Board (EQPB), residents in this area will migrate to new water rates effective May 2022.
PPUC also announced to the community that a stand-by generator has been procured to ensure a continued water service even during a power outage.

Mesulang to everyone who were able to attend the meeting and we look forward to a continuous partnership.
