July 20, 2016 (Koror) President Remengesau signed Presidential Proclamation 16-182 expressing deep sadness  and condolences for the passing of a family of four that perished at sea while fishing in front of their village in Ngkeklau, Ngaraard.

The proclamation honored Jesse Edesomel, father, Betty Ngirdengoll, mother, Tracy “Tray” Edesomel daughter and Stacy Dilreng Edesomel, granddaughter.

The proclamation states that Jesse Edesomel was gentle, soft-spoken, and honest man who was a mentor to his village and his community.  Mr. Edesomel was an elected member of Ngaraard State Legislature, serving his second term representing his hamlet.

His wife, Betty Ngirdengoll, the proclamation states, has had a lengthy public service and was working with Bureau of Public Safety until her untimely passing.

Their daughter and granddaughter, according to the proclamation, were both dutiful and beloved children and their untimely passing is a loss to their family as well as the Republic.

The entire family died after a boating accident that occurred sometime in the night, on their way back home from fishing on July 11, 2016.

The family was found early the next day after their boat was first discovered overturned.

The funeral for the entire family will be held this Friday, at Ngkeklau hamlet of Ngaraard State. [/restrict]
