KOROR, Palau— Palau Royal Resort (PRR) marked its 20th anniversary with a celebratory dinner banquet on June 24, 2025, highlighting two decades of service and a renewed commitment to community support.
The event, held at the resort, commemorated the hotel’s opening on June 28, 2005, under the ownership of Hotel Royal Group of Taiwan. PRR is managed by Okura Nikko Hotel Management Co., Ltd., headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
To honor the milestone, the resort made a $10,000 donation to the Palau Red Cross Society (PRCS), a charitable organization personally selected by President Surangel Whipps Jr., who also serves as Chief Patron of PRCS. The contribution was presented by Hotel Royal Group as a symbol of its continued commitment to supporting Palau.
In a further show of corporate social responsibility, PRR announced an initiative to support the Belau Cancer Society. For every $35 net revenue earned from its Sunday Brunch Buffet during July and August, the resort will donate $5 toward the local nonprofit.
The evening featured remarks from PRR Chairman Mr. Liao Nien Chi, a congratulatory toast by Mr. Masanori Honda of Okura Nikko Hotel Management, and a keynote speech from President Whipps. In his address, Whipps praised PRR as a pillar of the nation’s tourism sector, crediting the resort for contributing to Palau’s growing tourism numbers over the past 20 years.
“Palau Royal Resort is more than just a hotel—it’s an institution,” said Whipps. “I hope to see Malakal become Palau’s tourism hub, and I encourage Hotel Royal Group to consider developing another hotel of similar caliber in the country.”
The resort also recognized its top travel agent partners with Awards of Appreciation for their long-standing contributions to its success.
The evening concluded with local cultural performances and a celebratory dinner.
