Two Palau Visitors Authority staff and three state representatives are attending a Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Destination Marketing Forum 2022  in Hat Yai, Songkhla, Thailand, this August 2nd to 4th, 2022.

This would be the first in-person conference for the regional tourism organization since the COVId-19 pandemic.

Themed “Building back sustainably through cultural heritage and community-based tourism,” the Forum seeks to help destinations market and manage their tourism growth.

Some topics to be featured at this event include Marketing in the Age of COVID and Reinstating Confidence in Our Destinations, among others.

Kadoi Ruluked, PVA Managing Director said that the destination for the event is selected by the Board of PATA, and this year, they selected Thailand.

Palau hosted a similar international event, the PATA’s New Tourism Frontiers Forum, in November of 2017.

The latest economic report from USA Graduate School says tourism recovery for Palau remains “uncertain.”
