Tommy E. Remengesau Jr. (Former President of Palau)

Former President Tommy E. Remengesau Jr. is one of 17 leaders to be highlighted at the One Young World Summit this July 22nd to the 25th, a hybrid summit with in-person and virtual participation of nearly 1,800 young leaders from over 196 countries around the world.
Vanity Fair collaborating with an international N.G.O. One Young World for the 3rd time, introduces the Global Goals List that honors selected individuals that have made an impactful difference toward achievement of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for a better, more inclusive world.
The Summit provides an opportunity for young leaders to share the stage with inspiring leaders both virtually and in-person.
The 17 individuals highlighted this year include Joel Kinnaman, actor, entrepreneur, founder of The Kinnaman Foundation representing SDG 1, Zero Hunger and award-winning activist Aya Chebbi representing U.N.’s Partnerships for the Goals (SDG). SDG 3, Life on Land Goal is represented by lawyer, activist and ambassador Pania Newton.
CEO of Verizon Telecoms Ronan Dunne, representative of Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure Goal, whose charitable works focuses on education and opportunities for next generation is also highlighted.
Other notable individuals honored include Saudi women’s rights activist Loujain al-Hathloul representing Gender Equality Goal and Sir Lewis Hamilton, a Formula One Driver knighted for his success and strong advocate of quality education for all, representing Education SDG.
Representing the SDG 17, Life Below Water Goal, is Palau’s own former President and recipient of U.N. Environmental Program award Tommy Remengesau Jr. W.H.O. Dr. Tedros represents the Good Health and Well-Being SDG, of course the Director-General of World Health Organization.
