10 March 2025– The Australian Government’s REnew Pacific program has launched its first call for proposals for off-grid renewable energy solutions, offering an exciting opportunity to power remote communities in Palau with clean energy for sustainable development.

REnew Pacific is the Australian Government’s new $75 million investment in off-grid renewable energy solutions for rural and remote communities across the Pacific and Timor-Leste.

The five-year program is now accepting grant proposals for locally-led projects that will improve essential services, including lighting, water access, agriculture, healthcare, food security, education, and communication for off-grid communities with a particular focus on projects that improve energy access for women, people with disabilities and those from diverse groups.

The Australian Government announced its first REnew Pacific project in Solomon Islands, which is set to benefit over 81,000 people by providing clean, renewable energy to power remote healthcare, education and essential services.

REnew Pacific is part of the Pacific Climate Infrastructure Financing Partnership (PCIFP), a $350 million initiative focused on climate infrastructure to help the region transition away from fossil fuels, enhance energy security and drive climate-resilient development.

It is delivered by the Australian Government’s Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP) and implemented by Palladium, building on the success of the PCIFP’s Off-Grid Renewable Energy Partnership pilots, launched in 2024 across Fiji, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Timor Leste and Vanuatu.

Interested businesses, NGOs, community organisations, academic institutions and government agencies in Palau are invited to submit concept notes for off-grid renewable energy solutions before applications close on 28 April 2025.
