The Palau Public Utilities Corporation is proud to announce the successful completion of Ngaraard Elementary School’s water treatment system. This is an advanced system with innovative low-pressure UF membrane process powered by solar panels. It was constructed and delivered to Palau (Ngaraard) as part of a combined funding from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) of Germany and Martin Systems GmbH. A ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate this significant milestone was held on October 7, 2024 at the Ngaraard Elementary School campus where students, staff, parents and community members were able to see and learn about how it works. Some were also eager to drink the refreshing and clean water from the system.
The new water filtration system is designed to provide students, staff, and the broader school community with clean, safe drinking water. Ngaraard Elementary School Principal Ms. Daisy Ulitch thanked all who were involved for this “great blessing” for the school as well as the community. The school is now reassured that their water is safe for consumption and will make a lasting impact on the health and well-being of the students as well as the community.
PPUC would like to extend its warmest appreciation to the Government of Germany for this generous support and will continue to explore opportunities for future projects to improve water treatment systems in Babeldoab and the outlying states.
