Overview:

Police Sergeant Gerald Ringang of the Maritime Security & Fish & Wildlife Protection Unit has been selected to attend the Japan International Cooperation Agency (Japan International Cooperation Agency) KCCP Maritime Law Enforcement Training in Yokohama, Japan. The program runs from June 28 to August 8 and brings together 25 participants from various countries to strengthen maritime law enforcement capacity.

Gerald Ringang, Police Sargeant at the Maritime Security & Fish & Wildlife Protection, was accepted to JICA’s KCCP Maritime Law Enforcement Training.  From June 28 to August 8, Ringang and 24 other participating country representatives will be attending the training in Yokohama, Japan.

The participants will learn comprehensive knowledge and techniques for maritime law enforcement through lectures, attend visits, and receive practical experiences based on cooperation from Japan Coast Guard (JCG).  The course includes lectures on international law/drug smuggling, an observation of the JCG air base, investigations of suspicious vessels, and practical exercises of scientific criminal investigation, which are necessary to strengthen maritime law enforcement.  In addition, this course is positioned in the Global Agenda “Transport” and is part of the JICA Cluster “Enhancement of Maritime Safety and Security”, which contributes for the strengthening of the capacity to ensure maritime safety, security, and environmental protection at sea in the region.  The objective is for the participants to share their action plans as the outcome of attending this course among the participants organizations and building the human networking among them in Maritime Low Enforcement fields are achieved.
