
The Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Republic of Palau witness the completion and ground breaking of 18 construction projects at Ngaraad, Ngiwal, Melekeok and Ngchesar, the Northern and Eastern states of Babeldaob on October 18, 20, 25 and 26, 2023. HE Surangel Whipps, President of the Republic of Palau and HE Jessica Lee, Ambassador of Taiwan, along with Vice President Uduch Sengebau Senior, OEK House Speaker Sabino Anastacio, Minister Charles Obichong of Public Infrastructure, Minister of State Gustav Aitaro and state governors, leaders and citizens, happily joined together to celebrate the completions of the projects funded by Taiwan Economy Stimulus Grant.

In her remarks, Ambassador Lee pointed out that the constructions, including road surface pavements are very important for the daily life and traffic of local residents. Once the roads are all completed, it will not only save government from the costly road maintenance but also increase the smoothness and safety of transportation for local villager and students, it will also boost local economy and improve prosperity and quality of life. And this is the purpose and promise of Taiwan Economy Stimulus Grant.

President Whipps reiterated in his speeches that the Palauan Government and its people thanks Taiwan for her generosity and efficiency to help Palau in many fronts. Taiwan is also a friend in need. When Palau was hit by typhoon, Taiwan is the first one to offer helping hands; When there is Covid19 Pandemic, Taiwan is also among the first to provide the masks and medical equipment. Steadfast support and love from Taiwan and the partnership between two countries have forged the rock-solid Palauan-Taiwanese relationship. Palau and Taiwan shall continue to work together for many years to come. According to Ministry of Public Infrastructure and Industries, there will be more completion and groundbreaking for the project funded by Taiwan Stimulus Grant before the year end at the states of Babeldaob, which will enhance the community development and improve the quality of people’s daily life.
