Senators Umiich Sengebau and Secilil Eldebechel wrote a letter to Attorney General and Acting Minister of Justice Ernestine Rengiil requesting further assessment of the recent suicide of the young boy named Dewill Ngirmekur.
Umiich and Secilil stated in their letter that “we believe this heart-wrenching incident requires a more thorough assessment”.
The intent of the assessment Umiich and Secilil were looking for “should include an examination of what could have been done differently to address the loss of such a precious young life” they wrote.
The senators’ letter stated that they understood that there were other young children who lived in the same household of the late Dewill Ngirmekur and the wrote that they believe it requires a closer look to “ensure the safety and the wellbeing of the children who shared the same household”
Umiich and Secilil’s letter to AG was also asking to be notified of “any information regarding the types of services offered and provided to the family and the children under the same household since this tragic incident” whether it be counseling or any medical support.
Both senators further asked that the Attorney General’s office “provides recommendations to the Senate to initiate any measures or policies to help prevent future incidents of suicides”
