Palau Conservation Society, Koror- A school challenge among students in groups of 2 to 50 of the Palau Pledge was introduced to the students during the outreach of the Palau Pledge to schools of Palau featuring The Giant, a short inflight video for visitors. The video was made possible through the coordination of the Palau Legacy with assistances from various agencies in Palau and abroad.
Since the pledge is asking visitors to enjoy their stay during their visit but take care of the environment at the same time, the criteria for the challenge was for groups of students from 2 to 50 to produce a challenge that reflects the protection of the environment as citizens and residents of Palau. The students worked hard together to work in groups and produced their challenge. The entries submitted were from students enrolled from 1st grade to 12th grade. The entries are in four categories such as music videos, songs, posters and drawings. Judging will be on April 16, 2018. Venue for the judging will be at the Palau Conservation Society from 11am to 12:30pm. Exciting prizes for the student challenge are $500 for 1st place, $250 for 2nd place and $100 for 3rd place.
The students showed hard word efforts in creating their group work. There were 57 drawings, 4 music videos, 2 songs and 4 posters. The winners will be announced on Earth Day, April 22, at the Ernguul Park. The public is invited to witness this exciting event. Other Earth Day activities will be featured on the same day. The lead agency for the Earth Day Committee is the EQPB with various agencies working together to make the Earth Day events possible.
