In a momentous event, Belau National Hospital hosted a Management Improvement Workshop on August 8, 2023, at Palau Community College (PCC), marking a significant stride toward enhancing its operational efficiency and services.
The workshop commenced with impactful opening remarks delivered by Gafaar Uherbelau, Minister of Health, Kato Yosuke, JICA representative, and Dr. Ngirachisau Mekoll, Director of Belau National Hospital. These leaders set the tone for a day of collaboration and innovative thinking.
With a keen spirit of collaboration, the 30 participants formed five groups to brainstorm strategies for bolstering the Hospital’s management practices. Drawing insights from the Balanced Scorecard’s four key perspectives – Financial, Customer, Internal Processes, and Learning and Growth – participants engaged in profound discussions, dissecting challenges and envisioning solutions from multiple angles.
The afternoon witnessed the birth of unique projects from each group. Guided by JICA advisors, these projects were meticulously formulated through the assembly of ideas on sticky notes, subsequently collated on large sheets to encompass diverse viewpoints. This participatory approach ensured that all participants’ voices were heard in the pursuit of optimal management strategies.
The significance of this workshop extends beyond its immediate impact. The outcomes and projects developed here are poised to shape the future of the Hospital’s management practices, serving as integral components of forthcoming plans. The collaboration and insights shared during the workshop will contribute to tangible improvements in Hospital’s operations.
