China Airlines flight schedules this April until late May have been canceled due to low bookings according to information from Palau Visitors Authority.

Bookings for April 27, April 30, May 4, and May 7 are in single digits.  May 25 only showed 19 bookings.

Taiwan still maintains strict COVID requirements for returning individuals coming from places with positive cases. 

According to reports from Taiwan media, nearly half of the Taiwan delegation to the 7th Our Ocean Conference held here from April 13 to 14 returned home and were tested positive for COVID.

The “sterile corridor” created between Palau and Taiwan is no longer sterile with active cases in Palau.  Taiwan with very few cases still maintain very strict screening and maintenance for returning passengers.

“Taiwan has yet to change its return requirements.  We are hopeful Taiwan will open transit that greatly helps our marketing efforts,” expressed Kadoi Ruluked of Palau Visitors Authority.

The resumption of flights between Palau and Taiwan is critical for Palau’s medical referral programs and the patients requiring medical care not available here in Palau. (L.N. Reklai)
