On the 18th of May 2021, President Surangel S. Whipps, Jr., with Minister-designate Ngiraibelas Tmetuchl, received a check of USD 400,000 from Taiwan Ambassador H.E. Wallace Chow. This is in addition to an earlier donation of USD 1 million received from Taiwan last month. Taiwan Embassy has been working closely with the National Government, the Palau Visitors Authority, and the Chamber of Commerce to bring normalcy back to Palauan businesses and plan for a robust post-pandemic tourism resumption. This donation is a part of an effort to revitalize Palau’s tourism-based economy and enhance tourism cooperation between the two partner countries.
Thank you very much, Republic of China (Taiwan), for your continued support and assistance. Your generosity will not be forgotten. We look forward to future opportunities in which we, the Republic of Palau, can further strengthen our relationship.
