The 2016 Trending Taiwan Short Film Competition is now receiving submissions. The event gives aspiring filmmakers the chance to reach out to the world with their personal stories about Taiwan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the event organizer, encourages the submission of films that reflect the trendiest aspects of life in Taiwan.

Entries will be accepted through November 27. A shortlist of finalists will be announced December 8. MOFA will then declare the winners and present awards December 14. This prize money for first prize is NT$200,000. Filmmakers from Taiwan and abroad are all welcome to take part by entering their moving stories of capturing the beauty of Taiwan. Last year’s competition saw 66 submissions, of which 15 were selected as winners by a panel of experts.
The purpose of this event is to increase appreciation for the beauty of Taiwan’s natural scenery, people, and culture through the creative camerawork of participants and promotion through social media.
