On July 13, 2021, Ambassador Wallace M.G. Chow of the ROC (Taiwan) presented a check of fifty thousand US dollars to Vice President and Minister of State J. Uduch Sengebau Senior at the witness of President Surangel Whipps, Jr. to sponsor Palau 27th Independence Day fireworks display. The donation demonstrates the comprehensive and substantive partnership between Taiwan and Palau amid this difficult time caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Independence Day fireworks has always been one of the highlights of the Independence Day celebration. From 2014 to 2020, Palau government has contracted the Independence Day firework to Giant Show, a Taiwan firework company that displayed cross-year fireworks at Taipei 101 Building.
