Team Palau concluded its campaign at the Oceania Championships in Darwin, Australia, with personal best performances, a bronze medal finish and determined efforts from its young athletes on the regional stage.

DARWIN, Australia (May 21, 2026) Team Palau wrapped up competition at the Oceania Championships in Darwin, Australia, with athletes delivering personal bests, strong finishes and a podium appearance against regional competition.

Closing out the championships for Palau was athlete Righteous, who posted personal best times in both the men’s 200 meters and 800 meters events. Righteous clocked 23.18 seconds in the 200m and 2 minutes, 6.29 seconds in the 800m to cap Palau’s campaign on a high note.

Earlier in the week, Team Palau opened competition with Peace competing in the U18 800m. Despite arriving in Darwin only hours before the race, Peace took to the track and finished with a time of 2:11.15, showing resilience and determination under difficult travel conditions.

Palau also secured its first medal of the championships when Coach Poich earned bronze in the Masters 60m event, giving Team Palau an early podium finish at the regional meet.

On the second day of competition, Peace and John represented Palau in the U18 400m event. Peace finished with a time of 57.79 seconds, while John crossed the line in 59.45 seconds.

Team officials praised the athletes for their commitment and performances throughout the championships, noting the athletes’ hard work and dedication in representing Palau on the regional stage.

The Oceania Championships brought together athletes from across the Pacific and Oceania region, providing competitors an opportunity to test themselves against some of the region’s top track and field talent.

Palau’s delegation thanked supporters back home for their continued encouragement throughout the competition week in Darwin.
