Brisbane, Australia, November 8, 2022

Edwin Tucheliaur, Jr. commenced his table tennis events here at the Virtus Oceania Asia Games in Brisbane today November 8, 2022. There were seven groups of four athletes who competed in the Men’s singles Class 11. Based on their classifications, Junior was in group 3 with three other athletes who played a round robin match to see who would move on the next round. His opponents included India, Macau-China, and Hong Kong. He had close matches, however, came short of moving to the next round of play. Despite the losses, he did his best and represented his country very well. We are proud of his hard work and commitment.
Not only was Junior’s opportunity to leave his home for the first time to compete in an elite level tournament but to be part of this milestone event in Virtus history as the first Regional Games for the Oceania Asia region. Although it has been an overwhelming experience for him, he has made many friends along the way and continues to make the best out of his last days in Brisbane.
The Oceania Asia (OA) Games 2022 Vision is a “World Included through Sport”. We are delighted that Junior is here, he is included, he was given an opportunity, being valued, having confidence, and most of all, being part of something. Team Palau is proud of Junior for representing Palau well in the OA Games. His participation in the games will only make him stronger and better. As an organization in sports and through sports, we will continue to celebrate people, sport, ability, and culture. The Team Palau participation was supported b the Virtus Oceania and Asia Games Organizing Committee and the Palau NOC Olympic Solidarity Program. For More information about the Virtus Games, Special Olympics and Paralympics, please contact the Palau NOC Office at 488-6562 and talk to Stephanie Ngirchoimei. Congratulations to Team Palau and Junior for representing Palau well at the Virtus Games.
