Carl Hennies joins the Palau Judiciary after working as an associate at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan. At Quinn Emanuel, Carl focused on appeals and critical motions in courts across the United States, including briefing, arguing, and winning a Federal Circuit appeal for a veteran seeking disability benefits and a Fifth Circuit appeal for a prisoner challenging the dismissal of his habeas petition. Before joining Quinn Emanuel, Carl clerked for the Honorable Henry F. Floyd on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the Honorable David C. Norton on the U.S. District Court of South Carolina. Carl received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif, and received his undergraduate degree, with distinction, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Carl is joined in Palau by his wife, Rebecca. Carl and Rebecca are excited to become certified scuba divers, explore Palau’s pristine environment, and learn more about Palau’s cultural traditions.
