The Palau Visitors Authority (PVA) is pleased to announce its upcoming Tourism Awareness Week (TAW) from June 13th to June 18th. TAW is PVA’s annual program designed to spread and strengthen public awareness about the significance of tourism to our small island nation. This year, the TAW theme is “Giving Back to the Community” and the activities will capture this theme.

On June 13th-14th, PVA will hold a Customer Service and Tour Guiding Training to State Government Employees of the 16 States of Palau. Happening throughout the week, PVA will conduct Taxi Spot Checks. As well-maintained and courteous taxi service in Palau is a positive reflection for Pristine Paradise. Palau, PVA will conduct these spot checks to reward the best taxi drivers. On Thursday, June 16th, there will be Airport Greetings with shell leis for most arriving flights. Also on Thursday, PVA will hold a TAW Site Clean-up in Ngardmau State.
A favorite event during TAW, the Rock Island Iron Chef Contest will be held on Friday, June 17th at the Palau Tourism & Hospitality School of Excellence at Palau Community College for an opportunity to taste some of the best, most creative and unique mouth-watering cuisines. Chefs from the finest restaurants in Palau will compete in the Professional Category for the coveted title! And check out the Amateur Category, where aspiring local chefs display their culinary skills. PVA welcomes you to participate as a contestant, or to join the audience.
