As part of the mission to support Palau’s tourism growth and economic development, various agencies had collaborated to conduct two free trainings intended for service providers from the security and hospitality industries on Friday, December 28, at the Palau Community College (PCC).

The trainings, which revolved around emergency response and customer service, were the product of the collaborations among Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Micronesia, PCC, United Airlines, Palau Small Business Development Center (SBDC), Guam Visitors Bureau and Palau Visitors Authority (PVA).

Over 40 participants from the Bureau of Custom and Border Protection, Palau Public Utilities Corporation (PPUC), PVA, Environment Quality Protection Board (EQPB), VIP Hotel, Rock Island Café, Coconut Hut, Palau Royal Resort, Airai State, Palau Tourism and Hospitality School of Excellence, Ngarchelong state, and Ngaraard state attended the meeting.

Guam-based guest speakers, Assistant Fire Chief of the Guam Fire Department Daren Burrier and Director of Food and Beverage at Lotte Hotel Guam Tes Reyes-Burrier, provided trainings on Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and customer service, respectively.

Assistant Fire Chief Daren had done previous trainings relating to emergency response in Palau in the past while Director Tes was here for the first time. (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
