5 July 2023– The Australian Embassy is pleased to announce that the Palau Aquatics Federation (Palau Swimming Association) and the Palau Canoe and Water Sports Federation have each been granted AUD20,000 from PacificAus Sports.

The Palau Swimming Association will use these funds to allow swimmers to participate at the Oceania Swimming Competition in Australia in May 2024, in addition to supporting pre-competition training activities targeting both athletes and coaches.
The Palau Canoe and Water Sports Federation will use the funds as they prepare to compete in the 2023 Pacific Games as well as the International Va’a Federation World Distance Championship.
Both Australia and Palau have mutual interests in sport, with Australia supporting numerous athletes as they train and compete in Australia, as well as supporting local competitions and activities that foster disability inclusion and promote healthy lifestyles.
