United National Development Program (UNDP) ranks Palau 50th on the Human Development Index (HDI). The program measures achievement in three dimensions of human development, long and healthy life, knowledge and quality of life.
Development index cover inequality, gender equality, poverty, women empowerment, environmental sustainability and socioeconomic sustainability.
Gender equality for example, at looks number of women in middle management positions, political positions, as well as level prenatal care among others. In inequality, for example, it looks at life expectancy and inequality in education.
Quality of human development index looks at data at number of doctors, number of hospital beds, teacher to student ratio, population with sanitation services, with electricity and others.
Not all data are available for Palau across all sectors which may change ranking if available but with available information, it ranks 50 out of the 123 countries.
