The United Nations marked UN Day 2025 in Palau with an Open House at the Small Grants UN Office in Koror, bringing together partners, stakeholders, staff, and young media professionals to recognize the UN’s work across Micronesia.
The event opened with welcoming remarks from Sharon Sakuma of the UN Coordination Office, who reaffirmed the UN’s commitment to supporting Palau’s development and resilience.
Mamadou Kane, the UN Resident Coordinator for Micronesia, emphasized the importance of partnerships and regional cooperation in achieving shared goals in his special remarks.
Throughout the day, various UN agencies, including the Food and Agriculture Organization, the International Organization for Migration, and the UNDP Small Grants Programme, showcased their efforts in Palau. Presentations highlighted climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, and community development initiatives in the country.
An open discussion gave attendees the opportunity to engage directly with UN representatives and explore how global goals are implemented through local actions.
The event concluded with a shared lunch and group photo, embodying the spirit of collaboration under this year’s theme: “Building Our Future Together.”
