As a close ally to Palau, The US Government has come forth again with more donations to help with Palau’s response to COVID-19. The US Embassy of Palau presented the personal protective equipment to the National Emergency Committee at the Airai Fire Station on April 10th.
The equipment includes surgical masks, gloves, gowns, and face shields. The following items will be distributed to all the health facilities throughout Palau, community health centers, first responders, and will be used by those that are manning the quarantine heath sites.
More medical equipment will be given to Palau in the near future such as testing kits for COVID-19 and other necessary machinery.
In a Facebook post by US Embassy of Palau in regards to the ppe donations “The United States provides aid because they believe it’s the right thing to do. They also do it because pandemics don’t respect national borders. If they can help countries to contain outbreaks, then they’ll save lives abroad and in the US.
The United States of America will continue to aide Palau by supporting a resilient health care system that can help prevent, detect, and respond to disease outbreaks.
