PORT VILA (VANUATU DAILY POST) — An agreement has been signed for Vanuatu and USA to negotiate projects to be implemented in Vanuatu.
The government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, signed this agreement with USA.
USA has assisted the Vanuatu Mobile Force (VMF) and Police with training on an ad hoc basis but now, the training can become regular events plan in advance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
“The government hopes to plan infrastructure building projects in the islands for the VMF Engineering Battalion along with the US Navy Construction Battalions”, according to the statement.
“Some persons may remember the good works that the US Navy Construction Battalions did in Vanuatu after TC Uma.
“The Central Primary School and other schools have benefited from their works.
“The Minister is hopeful that more projects in education and health can be developed with the help of our American friends.
“Other areas of interest where projects can be developed are national security and maritime domain awareness.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it looks forward to work with USA in assisting Vanuatu with further development…..PACNEWS
