Western Caroline Trading Company (WCTC), known locally as West, held a grand opening of it’s West Plaza Hotel at Leeboo Street, Koror, one of WCTC’s largest investment in Palau in long while.
“We welcome high quality foreign investments into the country but we are especially proud when that investment is a local investment such as this West Plaza Hotel at Leeboo. It shows WCTC’s confidence in Palau’s future economic well-being so that it invests in the community,” expressed President Tommy E. Remengesau Jr. at the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the new West Plaza Hotel at Leeboo Street.
The newly opened hotel facility has 70 rooms and a conference room with 150 people seating capacity, a restaurant and other facilities designed to accommodate business customers.
“We are considered a business hotel with amenities to accommodate businesses,” stated Kaleb Udui Jr., a board member of the WCTC corporation.
“We call this kerdel a hang (light of the neighborhood) because not only did it brighten up the neighborhood when it’s lights were turned on but it serves as another landmark for our community of Dngeronger,” expressed Tangesechel Mariur, Dngeronger Representative to Koror State Legislature.
Legislator Mariur cited other successful businesses in Dngeronger hamlet along the Leeboo street such as WCTC Shopping Center, Kumangai Bakery, Pierantozzi Apartments, BankPacific, Palasia Hotel and Donut House among others. He proudly listed the successful leaders and individuals that hailed from Dngeronger, saying that it is only appropriate that West Plaza Hotel at Leeboo Street be where it is today.
Romana Anastacio, Secretary of the WCTC Board of Directors expressed that WCTC does not compete with others but with itself, to continue to improve over what it was days ago, months ago and years ago.
West Plaza Hotel at Leeboo becomes the sixth (6) hotel property owned by WCTC. Other hotels include West Plaza Downtown, West Plaza By the Sea, West Plaza Seaside, West Plaza Desekel and West Plaza Malakal.
