Presidential candidates  Raynold Oilouch and Surangel Whipps Jr. expressed what they believed were the  best qualities a leader should have to run a country during the “Meet-the-press” event held last week with the candidates.

Candidate Oilouch said “With the coronavirus happening, we need someone who is a uniter that will assure and work with the people so that together we can fight through these harsh times of covid. Someone who spend their time listening and acknowledging those people of different skills for the work they do and someone with great respect for our Palauan culture.”

Surangel Whipps Jr. said “I’m a problem solver”. He cited the different types of work he has been in that allowed him to work with different people.

“I believe no matter what if you’re dealing with 600 or 2,000 people there is no difference and as a leader you need to figure how to bring people together. A leader that can analyze situations and make good decisions is what Palau needs. A decision maker and I believe that I can be that.

Both candidates were very clear on who they think should be the best leader for Palau.
