A 39-year-old Palauan male was reported hit and killed by a train in Kent, Washington State, on the evening of February 27, 2023.
The young man, identified as Siliang Sikong, was walking on the railway tracks before the train hit him. According to a report from KentReporter.com, staff of BNSF saw the man on the tracks and tried to stop the train but could not stop before it hit the victim.
The report also said he was the 19th pedestrian killed by the train in this area since 2019.
With a small population and close kinship, Palau feels the loss of its citizen keenly.
