Yechad Joseph Sengebau, a senior at Mindzenty High School, has been accepted to the prestigious US Naval Academy as a member of the Class of 2027.
“You should take pride in having successfully competed with outstanding young people from across the nation for admission into this historic institution,” states the appointment letter from the Naval Academy.
Admission to the United States Naval Academy is one of the most selective in the U.S., with 7% acceptance rate or only about 1,200 accepted out of 16,000 applicants. It requires SAT scores of 1200 and 1420 or ACT scores of 26 and 32.
“The program is highly competitive and will prepare you morally, mentally, and physically for the privilege of leading Sailors and Marines,” states the letter.
Mr. Sengebau is currently the president of the Mindzenty High School Student Body Association. He has also been accepted and offered scholarships to other universities, including Xavier University, the University of Scranton, and the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
He is interested in pursuing an Ocean Engineering degree focusing on civil and coastal engineering, a program offered at the US Naval Academy.
