Aimeliik State is prioritizing initiatives to empower local entrepreneurs and cultivate business opportunities in the wake of renewed tourism activity, according to the state’s fiscal year 2024 annual performance report.

The report outlines plans to connect aspiring business owners with technical assistance, particularly those with eco-friendly ventures that align with the tourism industry’s growing demand for sustainable practices. The state identified the Ngerchebal Wildlife Reserve and the Ngermeduu Conservation Area as prime locations for developing eco-tourism experiences.

To address housing needs, Aimeliik State is constructing a new subdivision. The report indicates strong demand, with over 300 lease applications received. Land acquisition efforts are underway to accommodate all applicants.

Environmental efforts include a $30,000 project to rehabilitate the state’s old landfill, with the goal of returning the land to its rightful owners.

The report also highlights the active role of women farmers in taro cultivation, with many expanding their crops to include bananas, vegetables, and pineapples. Additionally, Aimeliik State has secured grants to support the improvement of historical sites.
