Koror, Palau – Seventeen appointments to various government boards and commissions were approved by the Palau Senate this month, bolstering several agencies that faced challenges due to a lack of quorum.
The appointments, spread across twelve entities, including the Palau Housing Authority, Belau National Hospital Authority, and the Palau National Scholarship Board, addressed vacancies that had hampered the ability of these bodies to conduct business.
Four appointees were entirely new selections, while thirteen were reappointed to their existing positions.
“Maintaining a full complement of board members is critical for ensuring the smooth operation of these vital government functions,” said a spokesperson for the Office of the President. “These appointments will allow the boards to resume their full duties and effectively oversee important programs and services.”
Among those approved this week were Anthony Rudimch (Palau Housing Authority), Sandra Pieratozzui and Dr. Robert Emais (Belau National Hospital Authority), Hermana Idip (Financial Institutions Commission), and Lady Ngirmeriil (Palau National Scholarship Board).
Earlier approvals this month included Sunny Ngirmang and Bradley Kumanageii for the Palau National Communications Corporation, Presley Etibek (Civil Service Pension Plan), Richard Misech (Palau Public Utilities Corporation), Roman Yano (Palau Public Land Authority), and Theodore Subris (Parol Board).
Additional appointees included Glenn Seid and John Thing (Environmental Quality Protection Board and Parole Board, respectively), Lakolani Olngellel (Parole Board), Eric Whipps, and Keobel Sakuma (Belau Submarine Cable Corporation).
