Chief Justice Oldiais Ngiraikelau and his wife after being sworn in as the new CJ.

Associate Justice of the Trial Division of Palau Supreme Court Mr. Oldiais Ngiraikelau was sworn in as Chief Justice of the Palau Supreme Court on August 19th, 2020,
He was sworn into the position after the retirement of the former Chief Justice Mr. Arthur Ngiraklsong who served as Chief Justice for 28 years.
Oldiais Ngiraikelau was sworn in by President Tommy Remengesau Jr., having Mr. Ngiraikelau as the third chief justice since the inception of the constitutional government in 1981.
Ngirakelau was sworn in as Associate Justice of the Trial Division in January 06, 2017 and three years later appointed and sworn in as Chief Justice of the Palau Supreme Court.
In his remarks at the swearing-in ceremony, Chief Justice Oldiais Ngiraikelau expressed confidence that with the help of his colleagues and God’s Guidance, he would be able to maintain public trust in the judiciary that his predecessors have built.
Mr. Ngiraikelau was appointed from a list of seven nominees submitted by the Judicial Nominating Commission to President Remengesau Jr.
