Officers of the Narcotics Enforcement Agency (NEA), Division of Customs, and Division of Corrections (DOC) had conducted a search or “shakedown” at the Koror Jail on May 15.

A press statement sent to the media by the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) revealed that officers were able to confiscate two inoperable cellphones, roaches of Marijuana joints, and several shanks and small knives during the one-hour operation.

According to the press statement, the number of contrabands confiscated and other illegal activities were very small if compared to the previous search.

“This indicates that DOC Officers are working hard to make sure that all inmates are safe, and that they are all complying with the rules and regulations,” the press statement reads.

Operatives from the three law enforcement offices were divided into teams and the operation was conducted based on intelligence and at the request of the DOC Officers.

Law enforcers are expected to conduct more searches throughout the year.
