Ms. Glafira Florencio, who was arrested in October for smuggling Palau 31 grams of methamphetamine into Palau, was sentenced on November 21st to 15 years of imprisonment with 5 years suspended.
Ms. Florencio opted for a guilty plea agreement, admitting to charges filed against her.
She was fined a $10,000 penalty but it was waived due to her inability to pay according to the court judgment and order. After serving the first 10 years of her sentence, she will be on probation for 5 years with mandatory conditions, and she is not eligible for work release.
Ms. Florencio was arrested at Palau International Airport on October 20, 2023, after arriving from Guam. She was found with small items wrapped in different color tapes. The items were tested and found to be methamphetamine with a total weight of 31 grams and with street value of $31,000.
