Belau National Hospital’s health ally Shin Kong Hospital of Taiwan have launched a two-week heart failure survey at the Belau National Hospital outpatient department.

According to MOH Pulse monthly publication news, a team from Shin Kong Hospital requested the idea to come over to conduct the survey.

With the positive response they received from the Minister, the team came over and introduced what they call a program of a population-based study to collect data on the prevalence, risk factors, etiologies and regional variation of heart failure diseases.

The Shin Kong Expertise utilized and ultrasound to scan a participant’s heart to determine any anomalies and to also provide consultations on the status of each individual’s state heart-health.

MOH Pulse stated the non-invasive scanning lasts between 10 to 15 minutes per patient. Around 253 individuals were recruited for the survey from many agencies in Palau and the community.

The survey targeted healthy Palauans with no current cardiac symptoms over the age of 18. [/restrict]
